At around 20:55 on 10 July, two suspected IS members transporting an IED were riding a motorcycle along Domiz Bypass Road in southern Kirkuk City. The device apparently inadvertently detonated, killing both. One bystander was reportedly wounded. Despite the positive outcome of the 10 July incident, it highlighted continued IS intent to promote IED activity in Kirkuk City. Relevant threats were recently headlined by the 30 May coordinated IED attacks in the city, which killed between 3-5 individuals and wounded at least 20 others. IED activity was expected to continue to be noted in the city on an intermittent basis following those significant attacks, but security responses remained a factor tempering overall attack capabilities.
