On the afternoon of 27 February, a number of mortar rounds impacted in the vicinity of Jadidah Village, located south of Baqubah in Buhriz Sub-District. Two civilians were killed, and four others were wounded. Multiple homes were damaged. Significant security responses are anticipated in this sector over the near-term. This incident forms the first indirect fire attack south of Baqubah in the vicinity of Buhriz since 31 December. On a national basis, IS-authored indirect fire attacks tend to be moderate in effectiveness due to their intermittent nature and the inherent inaccuracy of these area weapons. The 27 February attack forms the most lethal indirect fire attack since a rocket attack that killed three individuals in an area south of Baiji on 3 September 2018.
