Three killed in attack on electrical substation north of Baghdad

At approximately 19:30 on 24 March, according to the Ministry of Electricity, IS militants attacked the 132 Electrical Substation in Tarmiyah sub-district, north of Baghdad. Local sources indicated that up to three detonations were heard in the vicinity, followed by sniper fire. One ISF member and two security guards were killed in the course of the fighting. There were no casualties among the technical staff. Elements of 59th Iraqi Army Brigade and PMF units intervened and forced the attackers to flee.

Some media reports cited that detonations were also heard in the nearby Taji area located to the south but this remains unconfirmed, possibly representing inaccurate reporting of the current incident.
