At around 08:00 on 22 November, an IED detonated against a pickup truck transporting high school students near Zulhafa Village, located south of Mosul in the Shura Sub-District. The detonation occurred while the vehicle was travelling towards Shura Town on an unpaved portion of the road. Four male individuals were killed, and 6-7 others were wounded according to the most reliable sources. The Security Media Center and other security sources claimed this incident was the result of an explosive remnant of war. This incident prominently illustrates the deadly threat posed by legacy explosive hazards long after the conclusion of major anti-IS operations as an important consideration for movements in rural areas.
