Iraqi government extends curfew until 13 June

On the evening of 6 June, the Higher Committee for National Health and Safety announced that the total curfew in Iraq will be extended until 13 June. Partial curfew conditions will be implemented from 14 June onwards, with restrictions in place between 18:00 and 05:00 and a comprehensive curfew on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. All forms of gatherings should be banned, with parks, cafes, educational institutions, cinemas, gyms, private clinics and non-essential stores closed. Food stores and bakeries will remain open. Non-essential interprovincial transit will be banned. Movement within provinces will also be restricted, excluding basic services, health and security teams. Additional security measures will be implemented in provinces with major religious shrines and international borders. On 6 June, the Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority reportedly extended the ban on commercial passenger flights throughout Iraq “until further notice”.
